After a child has been abused they will have a low amount of confidence and self-esteem so a good strategy to build this back up would be to set up a game where the children have a piece of paper which they draw a tree and leaves on, and on each leaf they write something good about themselves on, this will help child to really think about what they really like about themselves and helps them focus on that rather than the bad stuff hich has happened to them.

Confidentiality is paramount and keeping information of children who are in danger safe from just anyone looking at it is very important, as if this information got out people in the public they then may take it upon themselves to give the parents of the child a hard time and attack them physically.

M3 There are lots of different ways in different settings to help minimise harm when a child is suspected of being abused. The first strategy that might be used is if a teacher at school found out a child was being abused they may lay on some games for the whole class to try encourage the children to talk about or express their problems in a different way which may make them feel more comfortable.

This policy will protect children; this is because as soon as a member of staff acts inappropriately towards a child a full investigation can take place, so no further harm will be done to the child.

This strategy can also be developed for an older age group, if you have an under confident teenager then place a mirror in front of them and ask them to tell you what they like about themselves, they may find this quite upsetting but they should also then say how the can improve what they do not like.

This helps children as people looking after them will know what to do if a challenging situation arises they will also know how to keep the child safe.

The negatives of this game is that some children may feel uncomfortable or embarrassed about writing good points down as a group so it may be best to work alone.

After a child has been abused they will feel worthless and may disconnect from the world, so these games will also help them start to feel good about themselves again. The next policy is Whistleblowing; this policy is put in place so that if any type of inappropriate behaviour is witnessed by a member of staff they must report it so an investigation can take place.

D2- If a child is suspected of being mistreated the first response would come from the whistle-blower as they would be the first person to see the mistreatment they would then refer to the reporting arrangements policy to see who would be the ideal person to report this problem to.

It is important that staffs are aware of the policies and procedures so that everyone knows what to do in any given situation.

The negatives of this may be that there could be a number of issues of abuse at one time and trying to link it to a child may be confusing, and a mix-up could occur. All information should be collected factually as it may be used as evidence at a later date.
